FOR CHILDREN
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) requires
that our contracted providers follow the most recent
immunization periodicity schedule of the American
Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). These schedules are updated
regularly and are readily available on the AAP web site
using the link below:
Pediatric Immunization Schedule
(AAP)
The DHCS contract requires the use of the AAP
periodicity schedule of examinations following the
Initial Health Assessment. This is in accordance
with the standard used to determine frequency of
preventive health care visits assessed during medical
record reviews. In addition, Medi-Cal managed care
providers are required to conduct all screenings
required by CHDP. When the periodicity schedules
differ, follow the more frequent recommendation.

DHCS requires that our contracted
providers make available a core set of preventive
services consistent with the "Guide to Clinical
Preventive Services, a report of the United States
Preventive Services Task Force" (USPSTF). The
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) makes
these recommended services easily available in
summary form on their web site and they are updated
regularly.
