As a member of a health plan with the CenCal Health,
you have the right to:
- Receive information about the health plan, the physicians and the health services available to you, and about your rights and responsibilities as a member.
- Receive appropriate medical care including emergency and preventive health services.
- Be treated with courtesy and respect by your health care providers and health plan staff.
- Receive information about your medical condition in terms you can understand in order to participate in decision making about your care.
- Have a candid discussion of appropriate treatment options for your condition, regardless of cost and benefit coverage.
- Obtain a second opinion.
- (Have your right to privacy protected and medical records kept confidential.
- (Have an appointment with your physician in a reasonable amount of time as needed for your illness or condition.
- Obtain interpreter services if needed at no charge when receiving medical care.
- Voice complaints or appeals about the health plan or health care provided.
You have a responsibility to:
- Learn about how the health plan works and how to get the care you need.
- Provide the information your doctor and health plan need in order to provide the best care.
- Follow the instructions and treatment plan you have agreed on with your health care provider.
- Treat your health care providers and health plan staff with courtesy and respect.
- Be on time for your appointments and inform the doctors office if you must cancel.
- Contact your primary care provider first when seeking care except in a true emergency.
- Notify the health plan and your doctor of any changes in your name, address. phone number pregnancy status or health plan eligibility.
- Follow the recommendations for preventive care, yearly check-ups and a healthy lifestyle.
