Benefits Prepaid Card

CenCal CareConnect provides up to $480 per year for approved over-the-counter items. 

CenCal CareConnect members receive extra over-the-counter benefits beyond Medi-Cal and Medicare. You can use your Benefits Prepaid Card to pay for approved non-prescription health and wellness items you use every day, like cold medicine, first aid supplies, and more.  

Your Benefits Prepaid Card is not a credit card and cannot be exchanged for cash or shared with others. If you disenroll, any unused amount will expire and return to CenCal CareConnect.

Funding Overview

CenCal CareConnect members receive: 

  • Up to $480 per year for over-the-counter items.  
  • An allowance of $120 per quarter (every three months). 

Unused amounts do not roll over into the next quarter. Try to spend the full amount before the end of each quarter (see below for quarterly guidance).

What is a Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card?

The card gives you easy access to funds that can be used to purchase eligible products and services. Eligible products can be purchased through NationsBenefits® and at participating retail locations.

How do I activate my card?

When you receive your Benefits Prepaid Card in the mail, it will include activation instructions.

How do I download the Benefits Pro™ App?

Scan this QR code to download the Benefits Pro™ App to your mobile device from the App Store® or Google Play®.

How does my card work?

You can use your card to pay for eligible products and approved services. Purchases can be made online or through the Benefits Pro™ App through NationsBenefits® or at a participating retail location. The funds will be taken directly from your program allowance. Your card cannot be used at an ATM or for cash back when making a purchase.

How can I check my card balance?

You can check your card balance at CenCalHealth.NationsBenefits.com. NationsBenefits.com or through the Benefits Pro™ App. You can also call 877-549-8678 (TTY: 711) for cardholder transaction information.

Where can I see what’s eligible for purchase?

 You can see what’s eligible for purchase by visiting CenCalHealth.NationsBenefits.com or through the Benefits Pro™ App. Please keep in mind:

  • Product availability and price may vary by retailer
  • This card is not a credit card or a gift card
  • Cash cannot be obtained using this card

How and where can I use my card?

You can use your card to:

  • Order online at CenCalHealth.NationsBenefits.com, through the Benefits Pro™ App or by calling 877-549-8678 (TTY: 711) 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. local time. When ordering online through NationsBenefits®, you can apply your available balance to your order total and track order status in real-time. You will also receive home delivery at no additional cost.

What if there is not enough money in my account to cover the entire purchase?

 If the purchase amount is more than the available funds on your card, a partial amount will be deducted from the card. You will need to pay the balance with another form of payment.

What if my card is lost or stolen?

 If your card is lost or stolen you can report it and request a new card in your Benefits Pro™ Portal, Benefits Pro™ App or call NationsBenefits® at 877-549-8678 (TTY: 711).
