Helping Members Live and Breathe Better During National Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month

May 28, 2026

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America recognizes that chronic conditions like asthma and allergies are best managed with the support of a community1. At CenCal Health, we strive to support members through adequate education to effectively manage asthma. Educating patients on appropriate medication management and adherence to long-term asthma controller medication may prevent and control asthma symptoms, reduce the need for rescue medication, asthma-related Emergency Department (ED) visits, inpatient admissions, missed days of work or school, and improve quality of life.

CenCal Health offers health education materials to all members identified with asthma. These materials include Breathe Better member mailers, which inform members with asthma about proper medication use, CenCal Health’s online education library, transportation benefits, and how to connect with a Health Educator. Additionally, a blank Asthma Action Plan is included in the Breathe Better mailer. Members are encouraged to complete the Asthma Action Plan with their provider annually and bring it to all visits. Members can also request health education materials through their Member Portal account.

Help patients with persistent asthma live and breathe better by utilizing the prescribed longterm asthma controller medications and sharing these health education materials.
