Transportation

As a CenCal Health member, you can get transportation services at no cost to you. Transportation services are offered mainly through CenCal Health’s vendor, Ventura Transit Systems (VTS). Through VTS, we offer Non-Medical Transportation (NMT) and Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT). All transports are round trip.

  • NMT is for CenCal Health members who do not have access to transportation and need a ride to get medical care or treatment that is covered by Medi-Cal. The types of transport for NMT includes private or public vehicles.
  • NEMT is for CenCal Health members with medical and physical conditions where transport by private or public vehicle is a medical risk, but transportation is required for getting medical care or treatment. The types of transport for NEMT are ambulance, wheelchair, gurney, or air transport. A prescription and an authorization by your doctor are required for NEMT services.
    • Door-to-Door services are included in all NEMT trips.
      • “Go to trips” –The driver assists from the front door of the CenCal Health member’s pick-up location to the vehicle. The driver also assists from the vehicle to inside the building of the appointment location.
      • “Return trips” – The driver assists from the facility lobby or check-in area at the CenCal Health member’s appointment location to the vehicle. The driver also assists from the vehicle to the front door of the Member’s drop-off location.

If you are not satisfied with CenCal Health’s transportation services for any reason, for example if Door-to-Door services were not provided for your NEMT trip, then you have the right to file a complaint. Please contact CenCal Health’s Member Services Department at 1-877-814-1861 (TTY/TDD 1-833-556-2560 or 711) for assistance in filing a Grievance.
