Supporting you before, during, and after pregnancy
Maternal Health Services Available to You
CenCal Health covers many services to help keep you and your baby healthy throughout pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum.
Prenatal & Pregnancy Care
You can get regular pregnancy care from:
- Obstetricians (OBs)
- Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) or Licensed Midwives (LMs)
- Birthing centers
Lactation Support
- Breastfeeding education and support is available with a certified Lactation Consultant. Your OB, midwife, or CenCal Health Member Services can help connect you to a lactation expert to help you with breastfeeding.
- Breast pumps and supplies are free for you with a prescription from your doctor.
Doula Services
Doulas provide physical, emotional, and educational support for you and your family. Doula support is covered for any CenCal Health member who is currently pregnant or was pregnant within the past 12 months. A referral is needed from your doctor.
Chiropractic, Acupuncture, and Physical Therapy
Chiropractic, acupuncture, and physical therapy services may help you with back pain, pelvic pain, and discomfort. These services are covered during pregnancy and up to 60 days after delivery.
- No referral or pre-approval is needed for chiropractic or acupuncture services for pregnant people.
- Physical therapy services need to be prescribed and pre-approved by your doctor
Mental and Behavioral Health Support
Your mental health matters.
- Mental health services are free for you as a CenCal Health member
- Help is available during pregnancy and after birth
- You can talk to your OB, midwife, or Member Services if you have feelings of anxiety or depression that lasts more than two weeks.
- CenCal Health offers counseling, therapy, and treatment for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

Health education and resources provide you with helpful information, tools, and support to make informed decisions about your health and well-being. Please see the following resources:

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program
This program may help pay for healthy food and breastfeeding support.

Maternal Child Adolescent Health (MCAH) program
This program promotes healthy living for mothers and their families through programs for reproductive health, family planning, pregnancy, birth defects, infants, children, teens, and more.

Free transportation to medical appointments
CenCal Health provides free, covered transportation for eligible Medi-Cal members to and from medical appointments, including doctor visits, mental health services, dental care, and pharmacy/medical supply pick-ups.

- Scheduling a ride typically requires calling at least one week before the appointment.
